spit, mixed with dirt – muddy words flow
I was pleasantly surprised to be nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award by three different people in a matter of days. wow. okay. So, I’m gonna combine, if that’s okay with all you nice readers out there. My nominations came from: dicemaned over at Writing with probability, erroneouschoices at choices in error, and Pretty Words for Ugly Thoughts.
I don’t really follow rules, but here are the three things about me, as well as the questions asked and my answers. Please forgive me, but I’m not going to tag anyone. Not that I don’t want to, but just the time involved. This already took me a couple days just to do these! Yikes!
Three Things About Me
1. I haven’t had TV since 1999 and I don’t miss it.
2. I’m a crunchy, neo-hippie minimalist.
3. I think mathematics is super sexy. Talk to me about probability and statistics and equations and find out. Whew!
Questions from dicemaned:
1. What kinds of writing habits or strategies do you use? I write as the spirit moves. Sometimes, well many times if I’m honest, I wake up in the middle of the night and write. Sometimes the words flow and I post quickly. Sometimes I sit on something and work on it for weeks. There are times I trance out and write and others where I have something I want to say and I am careful in my words. There are days (rare though they are) where I just want to write and I don’t have anything to say. Then I just push through and do it.
2. If you could travel anywhere in the world for free, where would you go and why?Oh geez. Um. I’m not really a traveler. I’m pretty content just staying home.
3. When you aren’t writing, what kind of hobbies do you enjoy? I read. A lot. I’m a thinker. That’s probably my number one thing, sitting in nature and thinking, or laying in bed, sitting on the porch, wherever. Love sleeping. That’s a hobby, right? There’s my other art. Tending my plants. Walking. Cooking.
4. What kind of blogs are you interested in? I read a variety of blogs. I follow a few homesteaders, poetry, a couple naturalists, and a couple story tellers. Mostly poetry, though. Those that I can identify with.
5. Which novel has had the most impact on your life… and why? I don’t have an answer for this. Certainly I’ve read many that have stuck with me, but impacting me? I can’t think of any. I read mostly sci-fi novels so perhaps that’s why. I’ll say that Peter F Hamilton’s “Pandora’s Star” & “Judas Unchained” changed my views on a few things. Also, Peter Watts’ “Starfish” did as well. Then of course there’s “Dune” and “Ender’s Game” both series, that are mind-bending as well. Perhaps that’s what you mean by impacting my life??
For example, in “Starfish” Watts explores the darker side of human psyche and how our reactions to stimuli vary with our preconceptions. Things aren’t generally just what they appear to be on the surface.
Questions from erroneous choices:
1. What makes you write?I’ve always been a writer. I live much of my life in fantasy, imagination, what-if’s and obsessive thoughts so it makes sense to write it down.
2. How long have you been blogging?I’ve been blogging for a couple years but this particular blog is, oh, about 15 months old I guess. Writing? I remember writing a story when I was seven and just learning to really write. (It was about a shark, if you’re wondering.)
3. What makes you blog?Well I talk about this on my “About” page but in a nutshell, I could write in a journal but no one is going to see that. I want to make a positive impact on the world. If I can positively change the lives of just a few people then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. Blogging helps me in this effort.
Questions from Pretty Words for Ugly Thoughts:
1. What is your spirit animal? I am a badger!
2. If you had to choose, would keep your vision and go deaf, or keep your hearing and go blind? I was told when I was five that I would be blind by the time I was 30, my eyesight is so bad and was deteriorating so rapidly. Well I’m into my 40s. Still can see. But my fear is to go blind. I think I could handle being deaf better.
3. What’s your favorite book and why? see #5 under dicemaned’s section. I’m going to consider them basically the same… I don’t know, actually. I have so many favorites. But generally I say Peter F. Hamilton’s “Pandora’s Star” & “Judas Unchained” because he stretched my mind so far. I had to stop reading a few times and just sit in awe, the first time I read them. Watch out folks, this is hard sci-fi at its finest!
4. What’s your favorite flower and why?I’m going with the dandelion. They make me happy. Beautiful. Cheerful. A field of them is intoxicating. Delicious. Beneficial. When they go to seed they’re just as beautiful in a different way. Watching the seeds floating through the air. Walking through them is magical. Seriously, what’s not to like???
5. What’s the most interesting/creative dream you’ve ever had?As a Significant Dreamer, I have had thousands of dreams and I remember hundreds of them. I can remember dreams I had as a child. I’ve had downright crazy to fun to creepy to fortune-telling. I couldn’t begin to tell you the dreams I’ve had. But if we were talking face-to-face, I’d certainly share a few.
Once again thank you so much guys for the nominations, and for all my readers who visit and comment, I truly, truly appreciate that you read my stuff.

Wow, to put it into perspective, you haven’t owned a television since I was 2 years old 😂. That’s actually pretty impressive.
And congratulations on your three awards. I must say they’re absolutely well deserved ❤❤.
