spit, mixed with dirt – muddy words flow
Sun blossoms in her hair
Remind him of summer gardens
And rippling crystalline creeks
Her lips need no false color
Her skin no extra adornment
In his eyes
She is naturally gorgeous

The mirror tells no lies. Why would anyone view you any differently? Nice and revealing.

This isn’t about me, just wishful thinking, I suppose. Something I thought about while sitting at the beach with the setting sun shining in my hair.

Love it! How wonderful to love someone just as they are.

It was a nice sentiment, anyway. ☺️

It certainly is a nice sentiment, and one that I think we need to be reminded of from time to time. So thank you for that!

You’re welcome! I need to remind myself too. Hence the poem 😊 Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think you’ve never really seen someone until you see them as part of something larger. Adorned by nature.

I agree with you there. Separate but a part of.

Beautifully written, Tara. I like the lovely imagery and the concision of this. Also, I like to think that women’s natural beauty without “extra adornment” and “false color” is still valued by some people, especially men when it comes to women-men relationships. I love authenticity and this is exactly what this beautiful poem of yours expresses.

Immense in it’s simplicity. Like a tempting flower in it’s own right.
I like these ‘shots’ of poetry from you, powerful and intoxicating!

Thanks Mark. That’s far too kind. But warms my heart.
