Saccharine

oh how you whispered
sweet honeyed lies in my ear
now you’ve left and
you say:
‘girl, you’ll learn to love again’

let me swallow these sickly sweet
saccharine pills
candy-coated lips and
sugar-crusted tongue
belly full
left unsatisfied

wanting more because
it’s something
anything at all
better than being
empty
