Cathedral

Her heart is a cathedral. Bright stain-glassed windows, each a story to tell. So her own story is mapped out in ink across her breast. The entrance, tall imposing doors, not easily opened with gargoyles guarding each side, lips raised in stark, snarling warning. Beware. Yet, if you simply step past them, you’d find they have no real bite to them, no power at all to stop you.
Her heart is a cathedral. Built upon a firm foundation of tradition and genuflection and habit to sway. Towers for beauty filled with ages of whispered thoughts and of aching tears and of begging prayers. Listen. Each mote of dust carries a story, her story. In part or in whole.
Her heart is a cathedral. Its architecture carefully planned and laid out, designed by the Creator to inspire reverent awe and a desire to hold her dear, close to your own precious heart. That hers and yours may well beat as one. So pause as you enter, bow your head in honor as she allows you to step inside.
Her heart is a cathedral and only the devout should worship there. Without respect, perhaps, she’s best appreciated from afar, and not from there within her echoing halls.

Beautiful poetry Tara, as always. As soon as I’m able to, which is soon, I’m getting at least one of your books. The one with dawn and noon…

Thanks Jude! This particular piece is in “Fallen Star Rising” but I believe you may be referencing “Four” with the section titles. If you do get one, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it after a spell.

I can see why. It’s a great, great piece. I do wonder how we get these bursts of inspiration sometimes. Do you remember if this piece came fast? Or did you have to work on it for a long time to get it right?

As I recall, it came relatively fast. I think I touched it up a tad a couple years ago. But mostly the same as the original. At the time I was writing all day every day. Publishing about three pieces a day plus writing and working on the side. It just burst out of me. Nowadays, what with the stalker/hater and the extra realization that my work is not well received, I don’t share as often.
