A Mere Pause

a leaf, red, lifts, stirs my imagination
autumn winds dance, then growing, rail
bitter and without boundary
something prickles my cheek
the icy breath of winter waits
looking east, the sun hesitates
I smile, wrap my scarf tighter
a mere pause before the storm
Ice on the windshield and a morning sun.

  1. Lovely pictures. We’re not far behind you. Actually, we had our first 21°F cold snap earlier this week, about a month or more ahead of time… Brr.

While I don’t mind winter, I am not looking forward to January’s -25°F days.

  2. lovely pictures – hard to imagine a place so cold, but your pictures bring it to life and into reality for someone so far from such extremes. 37c here on the weekend, the beginning of summer – 40c+ the norm – a different wonderfulness in the outback desert, but wonderful just the same …

    • No, these are with the iPhone. Well, the first, with the pink sunset through the trees is with the new camera, yes. 💕 I’m not sharing much from it yet because it’s a learning curve. Maybe soon, though 😌
