Spit mixed with dirt – Muddy words flow
One afternoon at the beach, I met with a murder (or mob… I think I prefer mob…) of crows. I flew amongst their midst and was accepted. *No audio, it was such a windy day all you could hear on the video was wind.

I guess I could change it… I assumed I could use either term but… you are probably correct.. off to ask the ole google machine…

Apparently using murder, horde, or mob is the correct term… editing 😉

i think the collective terms are somewhat apocryphal so to speak, but this one i like, similar to “a parliament of owls” which is equally appealing to me … though my favourite are the frogmouths, while often mistaken for owls, are not, and i am not aware of a collective for them … as cute and appealing as they are (local to these parts) …
crows, and ravens, do have a particular appeal to me also – one of my favourite poems from one of my favourite authors commences as: “once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary” … i get lost in those words …

I think a lot of people agree… easy words to get lost in.

Haha! Interestingly enough, I’ve had more than one person accuse me of such a thing. I merely have a different view of the world than a lot of folks. But standing in the midst of the birds (I didn’t roll the camera for a couple minutes) was a unique experience I thought perhaps someone else would like to see it. Watching the fine-tuning of their feathers, the intelligence in their eyes, the ease with which they fly…. it’s really very amazing.

Love all the corvids. Ravens, blackbirds and crows. We have a murder that moves through our city in the winter that looks like a black cloud. Probably several thousand. It’s awe-inspiring when they come through and you see them at those levels.
Your video is fabulous, of course. I love to watch them play.

They are very intelligent as well. This group hangs out on the beach a lot. It was a special experience to be completely surrounded. Seeing the minutiae the feathers shifting, the brightness of their eyes, the bird-version of joy in flight…
